What is Country Rock Music
Country Rock Music is what you get when you fuse a little bit of country with a little bit of rock! It was firstly used to describe some of the music in the 1960’s and 70’s when rock musicians like The Byrds and Bob Dylan introduced a little country flavor to their records, becoming really popular in the 1970’s thanks to the Eagles and Emmylou Harris (among others).
Representative Country Rock Musicians
Country Rock Music as I’ve already mentioned, was first coined to describe the country influenced sounds of rock artists like Bob Dylan and The Byrds. The genre was really at its height in the 1970’s when Emmylou Harris was crowned the “Queen of Country Rock” and Linda Rondstadt also made a big splash in this new wave of music. Linda Ronstadt’s backing band actually went on to become The Eagles, did you know that? Well, now you do. The genre of country rock music really began to slip into a decline towards the end of the 1970’s, although some artists have survived right up to the 21st century (Neil Diamond particularly springing to mind here).
