American Idol is a reality TV talent show which has aired on Fox TV in America since 2002, quickly becoming one of the most popular shows in the whole history of American TV, not just reality TV shows. It’s the only program which has been voted number one for an incredible seven seasons. So, how does it work? Well, a lot of popstar wannabe’s sing their hearts out in front of a panel of judges who decide whether they have the required amount of talent to go through to future rounds. As these singers progress through the shows they are later subjected to telephone votes so that the viewers at home can choose their favorites each week, and, through a process of elimination, eventually the winner of American Idol is crowned, fame and fortune awaits them, plus a major record deal!
The first winner of American Idol in 2002 was Kelly Clarkson, who has since gone on to become the most successful American Idol contestant around the world with album sales topping an incredible 23 million. Some of the other American Idol winners have rather faded into oblivion by comparison.
She’s good isn’t she?
