Dream pop music originated in the UK during the mid 80’s when bands started experimenting with a fusion of post punk and ethereal music resulting in transforming bitter sweet melodies into more sonically ambitious sounds. Lyrics are often delivered by┬ádeep breathing females or whispered male vocals. Songs which are renowned for influencing the sound of this genre of music include The Velvet Underground’s “Sunday Morning” and John Lennons “#9 Dream”.
