What is Thrash Metal Music?
Thrash Metal Music is another subgenre of heavy metal, and as you may have guessed it’s aggressive with a fast tempo. It’s a bit like speed metal but on the whole, much more aggressive, more of a backlash against things like glam metal which is more widely acceptable in the mainstream. It can be traced back to the 70’s and 80’s as another subgenre which was heavily influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBM), breaking away from the other subgenres such as hardcore and punk rock. Vocals have a great range from shouted vocals and grunts to quite melodic singing.
Representative Thrash Metal Musicians
Thrash Metal music is dominated by the “Big Four” bands, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer and Metallica, who together developed and then brought the genre to the attention of the public during the early 1980’s.
