What is Pop Rock Music?
Pop Rock Music is really a mixture between pop and rock. It mixes the catchy style of pop music with the often heavier guitar based rock songs. Seeing as pop and rock music are generally thought of to be opposites, to some people pop rock music is simply a commercial product which was designed to sell records and less authentic or “real” than rock music.
Representatives Pop Rock Musicians
Pop Rock has been around for a long time, and is still going strong to this day. Originally from around the 1970’s, representative pop rock musicians of that era are regarded to be people like the Bee Gees, Elton John and the Jackson Five, Donna Summer, Billy Joel – it was all kind of pop meets rock meets disco. Moving on to the 1980’s and pop rock music was largely supplied by Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins and Stevie Nicks, being joined by other greats such as Bryan Adams, Madonna and George Michael towards the end of the decade.
