What is Gothic Rock Music
Gothic Rock Music (also known as goth rock, or even just goth) is a sub-genre of post punk and alternative rock music which was around during the late 1970′s. The gothic rock bands did have strong ties to both the emerging post punk scene and punk rock. Gothic rock bands sing about depressing subjects and the music is often heavy with lots of keyboard. Gothic rock soon became much more than just a sub-genre of music, paving the way for the whole goth sub culture movement which is still very evident to this day, with the very dark and morbid clothes – well, black actually. Everything seems to be black – hair, clothes, eye liner, nail polish, even lipstick!
Representative Gothic Rock Musicians
Gothic Rock Music was played by such notable bands as The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Sisters of Mercy and Siouxsie and the Banshees (they seem to get into loads of these genres don’t they?)
